Job summary

Mixpanel is seeking a Customer Engineer to own the pre-sales technical journey from discovery to POC. You will design demonstrations that tie Mixpanel capabilities to business outcomes and determine technical fit before committing to a PoC.

You will engage with Account Executives to drive strategic expansion and ensure post-sale value. The role emphasizes clear, actionable communication to both technical and non-technical audiences, with a focus on outcomes and collaborative handoffs to Delivery

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or a technical pre-sales role at a B2B SaaS company.
• Technical foundation in data analytics, event tracking, APIs, data warehouses, or adjacent domains.
• Commercial instinct and ability to win deals and orient work accordingly.
• Demonstrated ability to run structured POCs with defined criteria and measurable outcomes.
• Clear communication to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Competitive knowledge of the analytics landscape and quick learning ability.
• Humble, hungry, smart, and accountable—these are the base expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery to identify the prospect's business challenges, technical environment, and qualification before a POC.
• Design and deliver tailored, research-backed demos that connect Mixpanel's capabilities to the prospect's outcomes.
• Establish technical fit and scope requirements for a meaningful POC.
• Own competitive technical positioning against Amplitude, PostHog, and warehouse-native alternatives.
• Run structured POCs with defined success criteria and a handoff package for the Delivery Engineer.
• Return post-sale for cross-sell and expansion that requires new evaluation on a new surface or product.
• Partner with Account Executives on strategy, objections, and expansion planning.
• Stay close to Delivery Engineers to ensure POCs reflect production realities.
