Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) for a FULL TIME, DAY position. The PCA assists with activities of daily living, supports the bedside RN by taking vital signs, and ensures patient safety with mobility aids and alarms.

The role emphasizes compassionate care and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital setting. Responsibilities include helping with meals and drinks, assisting with baths, and providing clean linens and gowns, all while maintaining high standards of infection control

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meals, encourage walking, assist with baths, and change linens and gowns.
• Provide clinical assistance to bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities.
• Ensure patient safety using gait belts, bed and chair alarms, and staying within arm's reach.
• Demonstrate compassionate bedside manner in a fast-paced hospital environment.
