County of Maui in Hawaii is seeking a Pre-Audit Clerk I to assist in preparing, pre-auditing, and processing vouchered or payroll claims in compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations. The role involves maintaining control records, compiling data, and reviewing EDP input/output for accuracy and propriety across county agencies.

Minimum qualifications include high school graduation and three years of clerical experience, with exposure to payroll or claims processing.

Qualifications

• Combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and three years of clerical experience, one of which in preparation, examination, review, and record maintenance of either payroll, purchasing, revenue/sales data, or processing of claims.

Responsabilités

• Verifies and audits items that have been authorized for payment and/or billing.
• Checks whether correct appropriation symbols and program activities have been charged.
• Checks documents such as invoices, bills, purchase orders, contracts, etc., for accuracy and propriety of extensions, totals, object symbols, and payee information.
• Examines payroll claims to determine the validity of payments to employees.
• Verifies all computations of gross salaries, overtime, leave without pay, temporary assignment and other pay adjustments.
• Checks workers' compensation payments for compliance with laws and proper appropriations.
• Maintains records and compiles and tabulates statistical data.
• Answers telephone inquiries and routes processed materials to appropriate sections.
