Job summary

The Practice Manager for UC San Diego Health's UPC Internal Medicine clinic leads day-to-day operations, overseeing staffing, patient access, and provider support within a union environment. Reports to the Associate Director of Operations for General Internal Med and drives systemwide improvements and regulatory readiness.

Responsibilities include managing schedules, access, and performance metrics, coordinating with HR/Finance/IT, and ensuring high patient experience and revenue cycle

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related area, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of healthcare operations experience with supervisory responsibility.
• Knowledge of clinic operations, scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology, and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of HR policies; ability to train, evaluate, and document HR issues.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills; ability to present reports.
• Knowledge of business software and data management systems used in clinic operations.
• Experience with Epic in clinic settings.

Responsibilities

• Leading administrative, clinical support, and front-office teams.
• Managing provider schedules, template optimization, and patient access.
• Monitoring operational, financial, quality, and patient experience metrics.
• Supporting physicians and APPs to ensure efficient clinical operations.
• Implementing systemwide initiatives, policies, and workflows.
• Coordinating with centralized departments including HR, Finance, IT, Revenue Cycle, and Population Health.
• Driving improvement efforts related to access, quality, patient safety, and employee engagement.
• Maintaining regulatory and accreditation readiness.
