Job summary

UC San Diego Health UPC Internal Medicine seeks a Practice Manager to lead daily operations, staffing, patient access, and quality initiatives for one of the system’s largest primary care clinics in San Diego.

The role reports to the Associate Director of Operations for General Internal Med and collaborates with HR, Finance, IT, Revenue Cycle, and Population Health to optimize access, patient safety, and staff engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related area or equivalent combination of experience/training.
• Five or more years of healthcare operations experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of practice operations, scheduling systems, medical/insurance terminology, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with HR policies and performance management in a union environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership of a large primary care practice.
• Oversee staff in registration, scheduling, and administrative support.
• Monitor operational, financial, quality, and patient experience metrics.
• Support physicians and APPs to ensure efficient clinic operations.
• Drive systemwide initiatives, policies, and workflows across departments.
• Maintain regulatory and accreditation readiness and continuous process improvement.
