Job summary

Georgia-Pacific Toledo Containerboard Mill is seeking a Power and Utilities Area Operating Superintendent to lead the PBM-based Power & Recovery Operations Team and drive long-term value through safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations in Oregon.

The role reports to the Power and Recovery Area Leader and oversees 6 salaried and 50+ indirect staff, shaping a vision for asset reliability, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement while upholding our values.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in pulp and paper operations or equivalent biomass/power generation experience.
• Experience in a heavy industrial environment.
• Proven ability to collaborate within and across teams to deliver results.
• Experience applying leadership principles, coaching, or continuous improvement methods to build team capability and improve results.
• Experience using data, measures, and economic thinking to identify gaps, prioritize work, and make value-creating decisions.
• Experience with power generation equipment (boilers, turbines, recausticizing).

Responsibilities

• Lead PBM-based value capture and Operations Excellence.
• Translate the Mill and department vision into clear priorities, measures, and expectations.
• Foster a culture grounded in integrity, stewardship, humility, respect, and accountability.
• Create an operation that is capable, stable, predictable, and continuously improving.
• Provide leadership to direct reports to ensure the Mill meets EH&S, quality, reliability, production, and cost objectives.
• Lead development and implementation of asset strategies to drive reliability and continuous improvement.
• Use knowledge sharing and economic thinking to identify gaps and make value-driven decisions.
• Clarify roles, responsibilities, and decision rights for team members.
• Develop staff through planning outages and long-term risk reduction.
• Coach and develop employees to enhance contribution to the business.
• Collaborate with operations to cost-effectively plan and execute work.
