Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Paper Area Operating Superintendent to lead the containerboard team at the Toledo site. You will oversee the paper machine operations, drive safety, quality, and production targets while mentoring operators and maintenance staff.

This role requires strong papermaking technical knowledge and proven supervisory ability, with a focus on continuous improvement, cost control, and cross-functional collaboration in a large-scale manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in paper manufacturing operations.
• Strong technical knowledge of papermaking processes and equipment.
• Prior supervisory experience with team leadership.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making in a team environment.
• Commitment to safety regulations and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of the paper machine to ensure safety, quality and production targets are met.
• Monitor machine performance and identify production issues, taking corrective actions as necessary.
• Manage maintenance activities to ensure the machine can meet availability targets and support continuous improvement.
• Implement process improvements to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and cost plans.
• Provide coaching and training to supervisors and hourly operators.
• Address customer feedback through root-cause analysis and action planning.
• Review production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
