Job summary

Georgia-Pacific Toledo, OR, is seeking a Technical Assistant to provide strategic and technical leadership for safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, quality and cost in the Power and Utilities area. The role focuses on productivity gains, cost reductions, and operator skill development through process and equipment optimization.

Collaborate with operators, shift leaders and superintendents to drive continuous improvement projects, support outages, and troubleshoot boilers

Qualifications

• 2+ years in manufacturing, industrial, or military environments.
• 1+ year leading continuous improvement initiatives.
• Proficient with MS Office tools (Excel, Project, Outlook, Word).
• Engineering degree required; Six Sigma training a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive safety and environmental excellence through hazard identification and risk reduction.
• Collaborate with operators, shift leaders and superintendents to meet objectives.
• Lead safety, quality, and cost reduction initiatives and projects.
• Plan outages and support annual outage activities.
• Assist in capital project development and process improvements.
• Use data and field observations to troubleshoot boilers, systems, and controls.
• Partner with multiple teams to resolve chronic equipment issues.
• Support outage scoping and validation of repair recommendations.
• Lead root cause analyses and changes related to safety, reliability and cost.
