Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in Toledo, OR is seeking a Pulp Mill Superintendent to lead safe, compliant, and high-performing pulp mill operations. You will drive cost, quality, and reliability while developing talent and managing budgets across digesters, fiberline, woodyard, and by-product systems.

The role requires deep pulp mill experience, strong leadership, and a continuous improvement mindset to optimize uptime and achieve strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in pulp and paper, manufacturing, industrial, or military environments.
• 3+ years of leadership or operations management in manufacturing.
• Experience with pulp mill processes and equipment operation.
• Experience leading safety, environmental, production, or cost improvements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Lead pulp mill operations with accountability for safety, compliance, production, quality, and costs.
• Coach leaders, engineers, and hourly teams to improve performance and capability.
• Drive safety and environmental excellence through hazard identification and risk reduction.
• Partner with maintenance, reliability, engineering, and operations to improve uptime and outages.
• Oversee digester, fiberline, woodyard, bleach, recausticizing, lime kilns, evaporators, and by-product systems.
• Lead continuous improvement to reduce cost, improve yield, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop operating budgets, staffing plans, and SOPs.
• Provide outage planning and execution leadership; ensure safe on-time completion.
• Support capital projects from development to commissioning and training.
• Use data and metrics to identify gaps and drive measurable performance gains.
