Job summary

Arcadis seeks a Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join our Power Delivery team in North America. The role coordinates the Power System Planning & Study group and performs planning, interconnection, and transient studies for clients, traveling up to 25% to sites and meetings.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) with 5+ years in power system study analysis and planning, proficiency in PSS/E, and familiarity with North American grid operators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years of direct experience within power system study analysis and planning
• Must be proficient with the PSS®E software package, including load-flow, short-circuit and transient stability analysis. Experience with alternative planning software applications is highly desirable
• Must be familiar with North American Market Operators (MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies and criteria for grid interconnection, performance and planning

Responsibilities

• Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study & planning projects for clients
• Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis
• Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with standards and good engineering practice
• Deliver accurate planning, studies, system design, and report deliverables meeting industry standards and QA
• Maintain QA on client reports and deliverables
• Coordinate with Arcadis Business Units for cross selling and staffing opportunities
