Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is seeking a System Operator Trainer to develop, deliver, and document power system operations training for NYISO staff and related entities in New York and neighboring regions. Responsibilities include classroom, simulation, computer-based, and OJT formats; analysis to align training with SAT; and participation in CRC to improve programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Power System Technology, Electrical Technology, Computer Science, Mechanical Technology or related field preferred.
Master's degree in Education or related training experience preferred.
Associate degree or equivalent with relevant certifications required.

Responsibilities

Participate in all phases of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to support System Operator Training (SOT).
Collaborate with NPCC Control Areas, NYCA and North American Transmission Owners to deliver joint training.
Conduct Job Task Analysis with Grid Operations to update Control Room Operator tasks and ensure NERC PER-005 compliance.
Document and maintain training records for audit and NYISO requirements using compliance tools.
Develop training for NYCA Transmission System operations and participate in projects of varying scope.
