Job summary

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, is seeking a Service Manager to lead a major maintenance operation within the Power/HVAC Division. You’ll recruit and motivate a talented team of Service Technicians and Equipment Associates to keep the fleet safe, reliable, and ready for rental, in close collaboration with the Branch Manager.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
3-5 years of operations and shop management with repair/maintenance background.
Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems.
Advanced knowledge of heavy equipment, warranty process, and the work order/time accounting process.
Experience on diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems enabling independent diagnosis.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Strong motivational and leadership skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong knowledge of maintenance accounting and P&L.
Basic computer skills (Excel).

Responsibilities

Supervise the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment including diesel gen-sets, chillers, air-conditioners, and more.
Motivate, coach and train technicians to meet time and quality standards and follow repair processes.
Supervise Service Technicians, ensuring safety policies are followed at all times.
Build strong customer relationships through high-quality and timely service.
Apply United Rentals policies to maximize productivity while maintaining a safe work environment.
Manage shop operating expenses.
Lead, plan, measure and continuously improve service and maintenance performance metrics.
Meet regularly with Branch Managers to discuss problems and solutions.
Other duties as needed.
