Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Service Manager to lead a maintenance enterprise within the Power/HVAC Division. You will hire and motivate a team of Service Technicians and Equipment Associates to maintain and repair equipment, ensuring safe operation and readiness for rental.

You will collaborate with the Branch Manager, driving profitability through strong leadership, service excellence, and sound business management.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of operations and shop management experience with background in repairing and maintaining the listed equipment.
• Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems.
• Advanced knowledge of heavy equipment, warranty process, and work order/time accounting.
• Experience on diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems enabling independent assessment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong motivational and leadership skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Supervise the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of equipment including generators, chillers, A/C units, desiccants, and electrical systems.
• Motivate, coach and train technicians to meet time and quality standards; ensure safety policies.
• Supervise service technicians and ensure safety policies and procedures are followed.
• Build strong customer relationships through high-quality, timely service.
• Apply company policies to maximize productivity while maintaining a safe, organized facility.
• Manage shop operating expenses and contribute to cost control.
• Lead, plan, measure and continuously improve service and maintenance performance metrics.
• Meet regularly with Branch Managers and discuss issues and solutions.
