Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Service Manager to lead a maintenance-focused team within the Power/HVAC Division. You will supervise Service Technicians and Equipment Associates, manage preventative maintenance, diagnose complex issues, and ensure safe, efficient operations at a busy branch.

You will collaborate with the Branch Manager to build a profitable location, applying maintenance and business-management expertise while driving quality service and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of operations and shop management experience with background in repairing and maintaining the stated equipment.
• Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems.
• Advanced knowledge of heavy equipment, warranty processes, and work order/time accounting.
• Experience on diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems for independent assessment and diagnosis.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong motivational and leadership skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance accounting and P&L.
• Basic computer skills (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Supervise preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment listed (gensets, chillers, A/C units, desiccants, load banks).
• Motivate, coach, and train technicians to exceed time and quality standards.
• Supervise service technicians and ensure safety policies are followed.
• Build strong customer relationships through high-quality, timely service.
• Apply policies to maximize productivity while maintaining a safe, organized shop.
• Manage shop operating expenses and lead continuous improvement of service metrics.
• Meet regularly with Branch Managers to report issues and solutions.
