Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Service Manager in Houston, TX, to lead a maintenance enterprise within the Power/HVAC Division. You will hire and motivate technicians, oversee repair of Diesel Generators, Chillers, and other equipment, and work with the Branch Manager to drive profitability and safety.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in operations/shop management, strong diagnostic skills, and a solid grasp of maintenance accounting and customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years in operations and shop management with repair/maintenance background.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills across mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment warranty processes and work order accounting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment (generators, air conditioners, chillers, grain handling equipment).
• Motivate, coach and train technicians to meet time and quality standards.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Build strong customer relationships via high-quality, timely service.
• Manage shop operating expenses and resources for profitability.
• Lead continuous improvement of service and maintenance metrics and report to Branch Manager.
