Job summary

Black & Veatch seeks a Structural Associate Engineering Technician – Advanced Power Generation to join our VDDS team supporting APG projects. You will develop structural foundation and steel models and drawings using Bentley OpenBuildings, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Bluebeam.

Under general supervision, you will create deliverables, perform basic quantity estimates, and mentor junior technicians while staying current with BV standards and quality programs.

Qualifications

• Typically, a minimum of 2 years related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Supports engineering teams under general supervision.
• Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling).
• Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
• Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians.
• Stay current on applicable standards, BV policies, and document control practices.
• Apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
• Use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures.
• Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs.
• Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.
• Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences.
• Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers.
• Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes.
