Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking a Structural Senior Engineering Technician - Advanced Power Generation to contribute to design, analysis, and detailing of steel and foundation efforts on APG projects. The role focuses on creating and modifying structural models and drawings using CAD/BIM tools, with senior technical guidance across teams.

The position involves supervising and mentoring other technicians, ensuring quality and adherence to project standards across complex infrastructure

Qualifications

Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required.
Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
Typically a minimum of 11 years related work experience.

Responsibilities

Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor.
Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline.
Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions.
Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
Provides consultation, training, and oversight to other engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards.
Reviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content.
Promotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections.
Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency.
Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
May contribute to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes.
May participate and lead process improvement and change management activities.
Manages drawing control and maintains historical project records.
Applies engineering principles and established design practices to complex designs.
Exercises sound judgment in interpreting inputs and making deliverable-related decisions.
Manages complex technical assignments and provides guidance to other professionals.
Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation.
May review deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracy.
