Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Power Delivery Assistant Project Manager to join our team. The role is posted in our Syracuse, NY office, but the selected candidate may work remotely from a mutually acceptable location in the region.

You will contribute to the Power Delivery Project Management Team, helping manage administrative, commercial, and technical components to meet client objectives while ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related major, or equivalent experience.
• 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience within the power delivery/utility industry.
• Understanding of project delivery process within the power delivery industry and defined background and experience in project management.
• Competent analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.
• Capable critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles.
• Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
• Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
• Works independently with minimal oversight and strict adherence to QA/QC.
• Well-developed with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products.
• Effective at coordinating resources, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to complete tasks competently and efficiently.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by health, safety and related policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop power delivery project proposals, costs, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
• Develop the work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costs.
• Update documentation within designated systems and processes (Risk, PMP, QP, PSP, Communications Plan).
• Assist with facilitating project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
• Monitor project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control.
• Coordinate with area/technical managers to address resource and subcontractor requirements.
• Oversee subcontractors, and coordinating supplier submissions, invoices, and payments.
• Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients and managers.
• Conduct lessons-learned meetings during closeout.
• Develop financial acumen to understand project data.
