Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Staff Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care on a 12-hour shift within a defined unit. The role follows the Watson Model of Care and collaborates with the Clinical Unit Supervisor to plan, direct, and coordinate care for a patient population in Los Angeles, CA.

The position requires a BSN (or progress toward one within 5 years), at least 1 year of CCU/critical care experience, and BLS/ACLS certifications; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required; individuals hired without a BSN will be required to complete a degree program within 5 years of their hire date.
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in Critical Care nursing with regard to regulatory guidelines and standard of practice.
• Certification in Post Anesthesia Nursing preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the use of nursing processes as a problem solving model; anticipate and plan to meet patient and family needs.
• Assessments focused to target areas most productive for a given patient population or situation; recognize changes and adjust the plan of care.
• Prioritize and organize patient care and ensure follow-through with planned care.
• Provide care appropriate to the age and needs of patients served on the unit.
• Maintain a therapeutic nurse/patient relationship throughout the health care continuum.
• Conduct hourly rounding on patients; SBAR hand-offs in all transfers.
• Document patient care in IPOC per policies; follow Watson Model of Care.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary discharge planning with Care Managers.
• Review orders and communicate changes in patient condition with physicians and team; escalate significant changes.
