Job summary

NFI is seeking a Drayage Dispatcher in Chesapeake, VA to plan driver utilization for container movements between port locations and customer facilities. You will coordinate in-house owner-operators and sub-haulers, ensuring on-time pickups and dispatch efficiency.

Qualifications

• Port drayage experience at ocean container docks.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year in drayage/intermodal business.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused team player.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel) and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Plan load and schedule drivers and owner-operators.
• Dispatch duties for in-house fleet and sub-haulers.
• Maintain positive relations with dispatchers and drivers.
• Provide daily/weekly KPI reports.
• Enter loads and status into the operations system.
• Use Trinium to address issues and document interactions.
• Ensure adequate sub-haulers for volume spikes.
• Assist with safety, security, and operational program rollout.
• Follow escalation process for major service issues.
• Respond promptly to driver or carrier needs.
• Timely completion of daily and weekly tasks.
