Job description

The Marriott Park Ridge is seeking a seasonal pool attendant to join their positive and talented team! Conveniently located a short distance from Woodcliff Lake, Nyack, The Outlets at Bergen Town Center, and the bustle of New York City, the Marriott Park Ridge boasts 289 rooms, 18,000+ sq. ft. of event space, and two restaurants on-site.

Job Overview:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

1. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to hotel standards.
2. Anticipate and address guests’ service needs.
3. Promote the rules and regulations of the pool.
4. Identify security and safety risks or undesirable conditions in the pool area.
5. Monitor and maintain occupancy level per hotel policy for registered hotel guests.
6. Observe activity in the pool area and respond appropriately in accordance with local operating procedures in case of an emergency.
7. Provide assistance to injured guests until emergency medical services arrive, in a calm, rational, and persuasive manner.
8. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to a supervisor or manager.
9. Keep the pool area clean, disinfected, and free of debris and trash.
10. Ensure tables and chairs are set up properly.
11. Monitor towels.

Specific Job Knowledge and Skills:

1. Ability to listen effectively, speak, read, and write clearly to ascertain and document important information.
2. Ability to effectively deal with internal customers.
3. Ability to stand, walk, or sit to perform essential job functions for the duration of the shift.
4. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
5. Speak with others using clear and professional language.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
• Physically fit, good swimming abilities, and able to perform physical labor.
• Ability to move and lift heavy furniture and equipment.
