Job summary

Boston College is seeking a Policy Associate for the Initiative on Land, Housing & Property Rights. The role supports the Lab’s development of model legislation and policy proposals addressing affordable housing, heirs’ property, and land use at multiple government levels.

You will work with the Policy Director and stakeholders to ensure high-quality policy projects, draft summaries for reporting, fundraising, and communications, and assist in funding opportunities.

Qualifications

• A law degree (J.D.), master’s degree, or another relevant graduate or advanced professional degree.
• Strong writing skills with technical citation ability and proper grammar.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience in policy, housing, heirs’ property, land use, or related fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor local, state, and federal housing and land policy and identify engagement opportunities.
• Conduct independent research on legal reform and policy projects and stakeholders.
• Draft policy reports and analyses on critical land and housing issues for various formats.
• Develop manageable legal reform and policy proposals for local, state, or federal adoption.
• Create policy-related presentations for conferences and public forums.
