Job summary

The University of Texas at San Antonio is seeking a Telecommunication Operator to support officers and ensure rapid, accurate information flow. Under direct supervision, you will monitor emergency systems, dispatch units, log incidents, and relay back-up as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, ability to communicate clearly, and basic telecommunication certification after hire. The role offers shift work with varied start times and opportunities to contribute to campus

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of Basic Telecommunication Certification after employment is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Responsibilities

• Operates emergency telephones, two-way radios, surveillance and alarm systems.
• Activates emergency procedures for evacuations or emergencies.
• Receives and records information related to police services.
• Dispatches officers and notifies supervisors of incidents.
• Prioritizes and assigns emergency calls for services.
• Obtains and inputs data related to police activities.
• Accesses confidential information via TLETS and related systems.
• Relays information to backup units including EMS and fire services.
• Maintains logs and prepares reports.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
