Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Police Telecommunication Operator to support Officers in enforcing laws and protecting life and property. The role involves monitoring security systems, dispatching units, and relaying critical information during incidents, with a mix of early morning, day, and overnight shifts.

The position requires strong communication, calm decision-making in emergencies, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, plus completion of required TCOLE training after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic Telecommunication Certification course and minimum 20 hours of Police Telecommunication Operator training per TCOLE are required after employment.
• One year related experience is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and follow instructions.
• Ability to stay calm and decisive in emergencies to relay information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Operates emergency telephones, radios, CCTV, alarm and security systems.
• Activates emergency procedures for fire evacuations or similar emergencies.
• Receives and records information related to police services.
• Dispatches officers and notifies command of incidents.
• Prioritizes and assigns emergency calls for services.
• Obtains, inputs, and receives data related to police activities.
• Operates communications networking equipment and access restricted information (TLETS).
• Relays information from field officers requesting back up and support services.
• Maintains logs and prepares complaint control cards and reports.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
