Job summary

Astronomer is seeking a Software Engineer to help build and operate the infrastructure for its multi-tenant cloud platform and Astro Private Cloud. You’ll work on infrastructure code, Kubernetes, and cloud networking for scalable data operations, with guidance from senior engineers as you grow toward independent ownership.

Early-career engineers will gain hands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and production-grade systems, participating in on-call rotations and contributing to runbooks

Qualifications

• 0–4 years of experience in software, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
• Knowledge of Linux, networking, and at least one scripting language.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS/GCP/Azure) or private Kubernetes environments.
• Ability to document your work clearly.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and maintain infrastructure code and platform services.
• Participate in code and infrastructure-change reviews.
• Operate and troubleshoot cloud resources, Kubernetes clusters, networking, and observability tools.
• Identify and fix bugs and misconfigurations with senior teammates.
• Maintain runbooks, architecture notes, and technical documentation.
• Build working knowledge of distributed systems and platform architecture.
• Participate in on-call rotation with senior engineers.
