Job summary

ModMed is seeking a strategic and technical Staff Engineer, Database Platform to lead data infrastructure engineering and operations in a hybrid Boca Raton setting. You will drive reliability for SQL and NoSQL systems and streaming services.

You will own end-to-end database lifecycle, implement database-as-code, and enforce strict security and backup strategies while coordinating with Architecture and Sr Manager. The role requires 10+ years of database and SRE experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related field.
• 10+ years in database administration/engineering or SRE.
• Experience with automated DB provisioning and scaling using IaC.
• Deep expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases at scale.
• Hands-on experience in public cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• CI/CD pipelines and automated schema migrations (Flyway, Liquibase).
• HA/DR, security (RBAC, encryption), and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with streaming platforms like Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Define the platform architectural roadmap and own database reliability.
• Oversee automated provisioning, scaling, and IaC tooling adoption.
• Establish SLOs/SLIs and implement advanced observability for incidents.
• Integrate automated migrations (Flyway, Liquibase) into CI/CD with zero-downtime deployments.
• Enforce RBAC, encryption, and manage Backups/DR strategy.
• Work with streaming platforms such as Kafka.
