Job summary

ModMed, headquartered in Boca Raton, FL, is seeking a strategic and technical Staff Engineer, Database Platform, to lead data infrastructure engineering and operations. You will ensure the high availability, performance, and security of our mission-critical SQL and NoSQL systems and Streaming Services.

You will own the end-to-end database lifecycle, championing “database-as-code” methodologies to remove developer friction while strictly enforcing reliability standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a computer science or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in database admin/engineering or SRE.
• Experience leading automated database provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management using IaC.

Responsibilities

• Define the platform architectural roadmap, and act as the primary stakeholder for database reliability.
• Oversee automated provisioning and scaling for SQL and NoSQL databases, driving IaC and self-service tooling adoption.
• Establish system SLOs/SLIs, implement observability tools for proactive monitoring, and manage complex incidents.
• Treat schema changes as code by integrating automated migrations (Flyway, Liquibase) into CI/CD and zero-downtime deployments.
• Enforce RBAC, encryption, and own backup and disaster recovery strategy.
