Job summary

Speechify, a distributed company with no office, is hiring a backend-focused engineer to own key infrastructure components like payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API. You will scale systems for millions of users across platforms and drive reliability in a fast-moving product environment.

You will collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture aligned with product direction, while advocating for automation and scalable, containerized deployments.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js.
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform; working knowledge of AWS or Azure.
• Ability to set up AI agents and describe automation clearly.
• Ability to verify results via logs, DB state, and actual requests.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API.
• Improve existing services for speed, cost, and reliability.
• Implement checks to ensure correctness before shipping and maintain post-release safeguards.
• Automate repetitive tasks and enable the team to repeat work.
• Create B2B and enterprise integrations for customers.
