Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer for Platform in Jersey City, NJ. You will own backend APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API, impacting millions of users across platforms including iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and Web.

You’ll work on containerized deployments, leverage cloud services, and automate complex workflows with AI agents, while upholding strict correctness and performance standards in a fast-paced, fully distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience using TypeScript/Node.js
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP); working knowledge of AWS/Azure
• Demonstrated habit of sharing ownership and delivering visible results
• Ability to describe and automate AI-assisted workflows in detail
• Strong emphasis on validating results via logs, DB state and actual requests
• Open to feedback and continuous improvement over being right
• Familiarity with containerized deployments is preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API
• Improve existing services for speed, cost, and reliability
• Implement rigorous correctness checks before shipping changes
• Automate repetitive tasks to free up more time for complex work
• Reusable code and processes that the team can adopt widely
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend ahead of product needs
