Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Platform-focused Software Engineer to build and own the backend APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API. You’ll improve existing services, optimize performance and cost, and drive reliability across multi-client architectures in a distributed environment.

You will collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep the backend ahead of product direction, automate repetitive work, and mentor others while operating in a fully remote,

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node (required).
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud.
• Habit of handing off work with tangible results.
• Daily setup with AI agents; describe unattended runs and reviews.
• Check results against logs and actual requests, not summaries.
• Judgment on what not to build; explain why you dropped it.
• Preference for being corrected over being right.
• Docker and containerized deployments preferred.
• Deploying high-availability apps on Kubernetes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API
• Take on services you didn’t write and make them faster, cheaper, and harder to break
• Establish that a change is correct before it ships, and leave behind the checks that keep it correct after you’ve moved on
• Automate the parts of your role that shouldn’t need a person, then go take on what that freed you up for
• Turn work you’ve done once into work the whole team can repeat
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on top of us
• Work with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture ahead of where the product is going
