Job summary

Speechify, a leading text-to-speech company, seeks a Platform Backend Engineer to design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API. You’ll tackle performance, reliability, and scale across a distributed, office-free org.

You will automate workflows, validate changes with rigorous checks, and collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to push backend architecture forward. Experience with TS/Node and cloud platforms is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node.
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud.
• Ability to automate tasks and share reusable work.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API
• Improve existing services to be faster, cheaper, and more reliable
• Ensure changes are correct before shipping and embed checks post-release
• Automate repetitive parts of the role to scale impact
• Reuse work across the team to enable repeatable processes
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture ahead of product direction
