Job summary

Bentley Systems seeks a Senior Principal Engineer to define and own the end-to-end technical architecture of the Bentley Developer Platform, including front-end UX, API gateway, and billing infrastructure. You will write production code, review PRs, and guide technical direction across the API portfolio.

You will work with Product to set API standards and collaborate with engineering teams to implement security, metering, and registration patterns.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience and significant time spent architecting large-scale systems.
• Experience owning comprehensive developer platform architecture from front-end UX to API registry and analytics.
• Proven ability to define global API standards with authentication, metering and registration.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, API gateways, routing, and ERP/settlement integrations.
• Strong expertise in OAuth 2.0 / OIDC and platform security models.
• Excellent communication and ability to align stakeholders across teams.

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture of the developer platform, including API gateway, authentication, metering, billing integration, and settlement.
• Own end-to-end platform architecture from developer experience to registry, including commercialization and analytics.
• Collaborate with Product to set API standards for monitoring, authentication, metering, and registration.
• Write production code and review PRs, serving as the senior hands-on technical contributor.
• Act as primary technical interface between Developer Platform, Product, Technology and product engineering teams.
