Job summary

Bentley Systems, Incorporated is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to define and own the end-to-end technical architecture of the Bentley Developer Platform, spanning front-end experience, API gateway, authentication, metering, and billing infrastructure powering the developer APIs and MCP servers.

This hands-on technical leadership role sets architectural direction, writes production code, reviews PRs, and acts as the senior technical authority across a global engineering team.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience and large-scale systems architecture.
• Proven ability to own developer platform architecture from frontend to API registry.
• Experience defining global API standards for monitoring, authentication, metering, and registration.
• Enterprise IT architecture experience with customer-facing API-driven software.

Responsibilities

• Define the platform architecture including API gateway, authentication, metering and billing.
• Own end-to-end platform architecture from developer experience to registry and analytics.
• Set API standards with product teams for monitoring, authentication, metering and registration.
• Write production code, review PRs, and act as senior technical contributor.
• Serve as primary technical interface between Developer Platform, Product & Technology teams.
