Job summary

Bentley Systems, Incorporated is seeking a seasoned software engineering leader to direct a 20-30 person team across the US East Coast, Canada, Lithuania, India, and France. This role focuses on API foundations, MCP services, and collaboration with product teams to set shared standards.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on director with a track record in API development, libraries, platforms, and strong communication with executives and engineers alike.

We are looking for an energetic, technical, and experienced software engineering leader to lead a team of 20-30 developers responsible for delivering our API and MCP foundational services. This team willbe responsible forworking across Bentley product teams todeterminestandards for all shared API servicesand delivering them for use across multipleBentleyteams.

This team will work closely as well with the teams building our API Hub and Commercial services, which will activate our Bentley users across industry to use our APIs and MCP servers in development of their own solutions.

This leader should be a seasoned director or senior director of software development. We believe in player/coaches,we want this leader to still be able to be hands on, able to help their teams solve technical issues, and workwithaprincipalarchitect to ensure sound design.Mostimportantlythey should bea leaderof engineers who invest in the talent, growth, and results of the team.

Requirements

Has 15+ years of experience in software development with significant and sustained demonstratable experience leading global teams at scale to enduring business success

Leadership experience developing successful APIs, libraries, platforms, and/or specifications for software developers

Is a fantastic communicator in person and in writing to a variety of stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences, and individual contributors and executives.
