Job summary

CSL Plasma in Akron, OH is seeking a healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis, administer approved immunizations, and provide limited emergency care to donors and staff.

You will conduct confidential donor interviews, assess donor history and test results, counsel on reactive findings, obtain informed consent, and maintain accurate donor records while upholding safety and confidentiality. Cross-training and bilingual skills may be required.

Qualifications

• Active state licensure from paramedic, nursing, PA, chiropractic, naturopathic or medical school required.
• Foreign medical degree plus current licensed physician or EMT certification in state.
• Minimum 1 year healthcare experience or clinical experience from vocational/nursing program.
• Experience in plasma or blood collection center preferred.
• Ability to assess heart and lung sounds and signs of drug use.
• Ability to instruct donors and staff about plasma donation benefits.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures with supervision.
• Administer and supervise approved immunizations and provide limited emergency care to donors and staff.
• Promote positive donor relations.
• Conduct confidential donor interviews for suitability and donor information gathering.
• Respond to medically related questions with Center Medical Director and staff.
• Review donor history and health assessments to determine eligibility.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer for follow-up as needed.
• Explain informed consent and immunization schedules to donors.
• Handle medical emergencies per SOPs and maintain emergency kits.
