Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests. The role reports to the Center Manager and supports the center’s operations.

The position requires RN/NP/PA licensure, CPR/AED, and at least two years of clinical experience, with a focus on quality and customer service in a plasma center setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to include graduate of a recognized educational nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: RN, NP or PA.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and arrange medical emergencies with Center Physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical findings or donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance and determine if further occupational health evaluation is needed.
