BioLife Plasma Services in Ames, IA is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility and oversee donor safety under the Center Manager and Center Physician. This role requires current LPN/LVN licensure, CPR/AED, and at least two years of clinical experience.

You'll work within BioLife/Takeda guidelines to review test results, manage adverse events, and support vaccination programs, with a focus on patient safety and compliant operations in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus completion of an approved nursing program.
• Currently licensed as LPN or LVN in the state of responsibilities.
• CPR and AED certification current.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsabilités

• Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs.
• Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
