Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Ames, IA, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of test outcomes under physician guidance.

Requirements include LPN/LVN license, CPR/AED, and basic IV therapy training, plus at least two years in a clinical/hospital setting. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• Must have state nursing licensure as applicable (LPN/LVN).
• CPR and AED certification required.
• Experience with IV therapy basics and donor management.
• FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training completed.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, history, medical exam, and SPE review.
• Manage donor adverse events per SOPs and coordinate with Center Physician for medical issues.
• Refer issues to Medical Affairs or EHS as needed and ensure donor safety.
• Support vaccination programs for employees and assist with occupational health/ER processes.
• Assist with a Pandemic Coordinator role as authorized by EHS or Medical Affairs.
