Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Humble, TX is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable results.

Under the Center Manager and Center Physician, you will follow SOPs, assist with emergency responses, participate in vaccination programs, and ensure compliance with FDA and EHS guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state as EMT-Paramedic.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist completed.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation; refer to EHS guidance.
• Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
