Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Humble, TX, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician.

You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review laboratory test results, and assist with donor notifications of unsuitable results. This role requires EMT-Paramedic licensure, CPR/AED, basic IV therapy, and at least two years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified as EMT-Paramedic in the responsible state.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER per EHS guidance.
