Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, manage donor safety, and collaborate with the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent for nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN; CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and Center Physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance and act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.
• Collaborate with Center Manager and Medical Affairs for center-level operations.
