Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking a Drafter to create, revise, and maintain 2D CAD drawings for natural gas distribution and transmission pipelines.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, designers, and project stakeholders to translate project information into accurate drawings that support new business, public and system improvements, and maintenance projects. Drafter 1 requires foundational AutoCAD experience, while Drafter 2 requires more extensive hands‑on AutoCAD experience and greater

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Foundational hands-on AutoCAD experience for 2D drawings and annotations.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS software and GIS data integration.
• Associates degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology is preferred.
• Certified Drafter (CD) is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of industry standards and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering teams with drafting tasks.
• Review project plans and specifications to prepare accurate drawings.
• Prepare and revise 2D drawings and schematics in AutoCAD (P&IDs, isometrics).
• Maintain records of drawing revisions and design changes.
• Support emergency response and after-hours tasks as needed.
