Consider joining our Physician Practice Coding team! We have an experienced team with low turnover, supporting each other positively. We code across multiple specialties, including Surgical for Pediatrics, with cross-training opportunities. Banner Health is a leading nonprofit healthcare system nationwide.

Position Summary: This fully remote role involves coding Surgical procedures for the Pediatric team, focusing on multi-specialty coding including Surgical. Production expectations vary based on the type of coding, with a minimum of 9 encounters per hour.

• Location: Remote
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts
• Ideal Candidate: 3-5 years of Surgical coding experience
• Requirements: 5 years of coding experience and certification through AHIMA or AAPC

This position is available only in specific states and requires flexible hours between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday through Friday, with a focus on productivity.

Position Responsibilities:

• Analyze medical records, accurately code diagnoses and procedures, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.
• Abstract clinical data into electronic records, seeking additional information as needed for accuracy.
• Ensure quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Lead and participate in training and mentoring staff, including onboarding new coders.
• Manage work independently, prioritizing tasks effectively and addressing complex coding issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent, with formal training or an Associate’s degree in a related healthcare field.
• Certification through AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT).
• At least 5 years of specialized, complex professional coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles, with the ability to work autonomously and ensure high-quality outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) if working in Imaging.
• Additional specialty coding certifications.
