Job summary

PACS Group is seeking a Staff Physical Therapist Assistant to assist the Staff Physical Therapist with resident care and related activities. The role emphasizes accurate documentation, infection control, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

The candidate will educate residents and families on goals and home programs, participate in care conferences, and help select appropriate durable medical equipment to enhance mobility and safety.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited PTA program.
• Proficient with Net Health and PointClickCare.
• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
• Ability to present information clearly to managers, coworkers and families.
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Treat residents as directed by Physical Therapist.
• Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation per facility, governmental, and third-party payer requirements.
• Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control, safety, and equipment maintenance protocols.
• Participate in Resident Care conferences and/or Rehabilitation meetings as needed.
• Assist nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
• Communicate with supervising physical therapist to provide timely updates to physicians, nurses, the interdisciplinary team, residents, and families regarding progress, goals, and discharge planning.
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, maintenance programs, safety techniques, and fall prevention strategies.
• Recommend and facilitate ordering of durable medical equipment to facilitate mobility (splints, walkers, canes, elevated toilet seats, grab bars).
• Maintain confidentiality of residents' information and company information.
• Report problems with department equipment to keep it in good working order.
• Contribute to quality assurance and rehabilitation program development as assigned.
• Relate positively with residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.
