Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist (PT) to join the Acute Care team on a PRN/as-needed basis. The role requires at least 16 hours per month, including at least one weekend day, one holiday, and two support days per year.

The candidate will assess and treat patients, develop plans, and communicate with care teams. Licensure in Virginia or compact privileges and BLS certification are required upon start.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy is required.
• Virginia PT license or compact privileges required at start.
• BLS certification required at start.
• Masters or Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred.
• 1 year of acute care PT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Select evaluations and treatment methods based on diagnosis, age, and status with appropriate plans.
• Demonstrate skill competencies in treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols.
• Perform re-evaluations per department guidelines and adjust plans.
• Comply with evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summaries policies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and students.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Therapist PRN Job Responsibilities:

• The Physical Therapist PRN selects evaluations and treatment methods appropriate for the patient's diagnosis, age group, and physical/emotional status while formulating appropriate treatment plans.
• Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols.
• Perform re-evaluations according to department guidelines while adjusting treatment plans accordingly.
• Adheres to department policies regarding the timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy
• Licensure: Virginia Physical Therapist License or Physical Therapist compact privileges required upon start
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association required upon start.
