Job summary

Seaport Scripps Home Health serves the San Diego County area and is hiring a Physical Therapist Assistant to deliver in-home PT under a licensed supervisor. The PTA will help patients improve mobility, strength, and pain and will perform gait training and prosthetic-related activities in patients’ homes.

Qualified candidates will hold an active California PTA license, CPR certification, and have at least 2 years of patient care experience, preferably in home health.

Qualifications

• Active California PTA license is required.
• Minimum 2 years of patient care experience, home health preferred.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable, insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home physical therapy under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Assist patients with mobility, strength, pain management and ROM exercises.
• Implement therapeutic exercises, gait training and transfer activities.
• Utilize modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and massage.
• Educate patients on use of assistive devices and monitor progress.

As a Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant, you will:

• Provide in-home physical therapy under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician's Plan of Care (POC).
• Assist patients with mobility, strength, pain management, and range of motion exercises.
• Implement therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
• Utilize physical agents such as heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
• Educate patients on the use of assistive devices (wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, prosthetics).
• Monitor and report patient progress and changes in condition.

Qualifications

• Active California PTA license
• Minimum 2 years of patient care experience (Home Health experience preferred)
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle
• Strong communication and organizational skills
