Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX seeks a Physical Therapy Assistant to provide inpatient physical therapy under supervision, helping hospitalized patients regain strength and functional independence. You will use acute care techniques and document progress to ensure coordinated care.

The role requires BLS within 30 days and PTA licensure from the Texas Board within 180 days, with a high school diploma or GED. Acute care experience is preferred and benefits support family, retirement and ongoing education.

• Document treatment interventions and patient progress accurately to maintain clear clinical records and ensure seamless care coordination.
• Guide therapy aides, students and support personnel to maintain a safe, efficient and patient-centered environment.
• Collaborate with supervising physical therapists, nurses and multidisciplinary care teams to support safe discharge readiness and optimal patient outcomes

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) credentialed from the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.
