Job summary

Catalina Island Health is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our Avalon laboratory team. The role involves performing venipuncture and capillary collection, accurately labeling and processing specimens, and assisting with routine tests while prioritizing patient safety and comfort.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and a accredited phlebotomy program completion, with at least two years of venipuncture experience preferred. Knowledge of LIS/EHR and HIPAA compliance is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.

• Knowledge of LIS and EHR preferred.
• HIPAA compliance and patient privacy awareness.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary collections using sterile techniques.
• Accurately labels, processes, and documents specimens for in-house or reference testing.
• Assists with routine laboratory testing and quality control.
• Maintains specimen integrity and proper storage and transport.
• Ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the collection process.
• Maintains clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
