Job summary

Adventist Health in Willits, CA is seeking a Laboratory Assistant with phlebotomy duties to collect blood samples and support the lab workflow. You will handle, process, and route specimens for testing, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

The role requires high school education, and CPTI licensure where applicable; a preferred associate/technical degree and acute care phlebotomy experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
• Associate/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred
• Experience in Phlebotomy in acute care environment preferred
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) license required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
• Phlebotomy Tech CPT or CPTII required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens for a variety of Laboratory tests and handles/transports Lab specimens
• Receives specimens for testing and assesses them to determine acceptability and action per protocol
• Maintains inventory and completes documentation of pre-analytic and post-analytic work
• Inputs collection lists and labels into the lab information system and packages specimens for transport
• Communicates results and assists callers or transfers to appropriate personnel
• Performs other lab-related duties as assigned
