Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Elkins, West Virginia, is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood and non-blood specimen collection with attention to patient comfort and chain-of-custody procedures where needed.

The role requires venipuncture skills, accurate labeling, equipment operation, and strong communication with patients and staff. Morning/varied shifts with 40 hours weekly are typical, along with potential facility travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Certification (CPT).
• Six (6) months of phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Consistently draws blood competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible for patient groups from neonates to geriatrics.
• Properly labels all specimens in the presence of the patient.
• Operate basic laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges, computer systems, labeling printers, scanners, phone system, etc.).
• Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, clients, and staff.
• Perform clerical duties such as filing, report distribution, processing, and faxing.
• If applicable, collect drug screens (internal and external) using Chain of Custody Process.
